We'll just see about this...

Who: Requiem and Jason
When: A day after the shopping trip? (long enough to set lights and get planters planted)
What: Trying to piece together just what the hell is going on here.

He was still braiding his hair when he stepped into the donor quarters. Sure, it was easier to just go to the club, but he wasn't always in the mood for the lights and noise, hence seeing if any of the donors were still available and willing...

...the donor quarters were always slightly brighter than other areas because the most common occupants were not vampires (not that the Circus was ill lit by any means) but it seemed even brighter than normal. Perhaps one of his meals yesterday had been high? It would explain the mild headache and sensitivity to light today? And would explain why he was loathe to go to the club. He was never at his best when post-drugging.

He tied off his braid with a leather thong then nodded, pulling his hood up. It was a 'necessary part of his character' the cape, and comforting besides, fewer people dicked around when it came to donating when he was caped. Something about the mystery and darkness inherent made them bend their necks to him easier.

Appearances. Feh.

He finally glanced around then blinked, those were...grow lights? Not sun lights, they didn't hurt, they were just bright. And plant troughs had been added, he could smell the damp earth and the tease of herbal scents just under the smell of bee balm blossoms. Well, that was new, he wasn't certain who had decided the donors needed such but he certainly wasn't going to complain?

He was half way to the planters, curious about what had been seeded, before he spotted the man on the couch. What was Jean Claude's pomme doing here? Their Master would have said if the man had fallen out of favor, and yet these were the general quarters. "...Jason?" Perhaps he'd brought a lover and fallen asleep waiting while said lover recovered in a room?

It seemed the most plausible answer honestly.

He laughed softly. "Sorry, it's hard seeing someone still hurt this long: with us it usually means that it was something bad." He moved slowly as he walked her to the donor's quarters. "And it doesn't hurt me to offer a hand, right?"

The guilty smile grew a bit more as they approached the doorway. "Um...well, you'll see what I mean." He nodded towards the piles of grocery bags and goods surrounding Requiem.

"At least there's that. It would be nice if we could share some of our healing for you, though." He felt that small squeeze and tried to ignore how very much he noticed it.

He guided her to one of the chairs, offering her a place to sit. "You can sit and direct, and we'll put everything away." He paused and glanced around at the piles. "We weren't sure exactly what you'd want; thought just getting a variety was a safe bet?"

"Frozens?" Jason offered with a grin. Then he made a face. "Oh, we should have gotten ice cream. Next time, we have to get ice cream."

Jason was nudging some of the piles. "We're getting what we can in this fridge until the new one gets here." He grinned and winked at her. "And the stove, thanks to this one over here."

"There should always be ice cream, at least in the summer." Jason started unpacking some bags as well. "I know it's hard to believe, but we actually showed some restraint."

No instant meals, no canned goods, sodas, junk food...

He would have to bring her some to try instead of explaining it. Or maybe a trip to one of the dairies: they usually had ice cream made fresh there and it was always good.

He started pulling large bags of dried goods, passing them to Requiem. He could unpack well enough, but Requiem would have a better sense of what went together.

"Well, more for tomorrow before work. We got a bunch of fruit, too." He eyed the fruits. "A lot of these can stay out, but the berries should go in the fridge. And anything we cut."

He made a note to not cut anything until the larger fridge arrived.

Jason nodded and set all the berries and the grapes to the side. "These ones will have to go in the fridge, but they'll be ok out for a bit. Really everything else can stay out for now."

He was still rapidly emptying bags and trying to put like items together as much as he could. Soon there was a small pile of the fruits they'd bought set to the side, but still separate from the fruit he'd suggested go in the fridge.

"Requiem, is there room for the salad vegetables, or should that go in my room for now, too?

Jason caught her movement and grinned. "We tried to grab some things you might not have tried before." He started pointing out some of the fruits in the pile. "Mango, pineapple, kiwi fruit. They had some nice watermelons, so I got one of those, too. When we have the bigger fridge we can cut these up."

"Yeah," he laughed, "but I'm going to make sure this one is well washed before we cut into it."

He smirked at Requiem, shaking his head. "Someone cut up a watermelon without washing it when I was a kid. I ate a whole bunch and spent half the party puking in the bushes."

Jason nodded. "I'm surprised I didn't eat more of it: I was one of those kids too busy running around to worry about eating anything but fun snacks at a party."

He gestured to the pineapple. "That's one of the best though. When it's ripe, you'll be able to smell it; it's so good."

"I'll tell you when you can cut it," he said quickly, grinning in amusement. "But don't hold me to any promises if you don't like it. I just think it tastes great."

Jason blinked. "Huh...I never thought about that. Requiem, do you know why we started calling it a 'pineapple'?" He nodded at Khemrys. "We have pine cones, but I don't see how anyone would mistake a pine tree for a..." He paused, frowning. "Wait, I don't think they even grow on trees...they're picked from the ground..."

The frown of confusion deepened. "Requiem, you were around when they named these in English, thoughts?"

Jason snorted. "I mean, I guess? But you'd think they'd just take the local name for it instead of making a new one."

Jason was clearly from a much younger generation.

He gave Khemrys a sidelong glance, a teasing scolding in his tone. "As long as you at least try it," he said playfully.
