So what do you think?

Who: Beryl, Eric, maybe Nat?
When: After Khem and Jason have their kids, after Nat has been living with Beryl for a year or so?
What: Eric has a plan!

"Come on, let e show you the coolest thing..." Eric grinned, dragging Beryl along through a hallway to the moderate kitchen. Weird, she'd never cared about kitchen size or set up before but this one was actually kind of nice. Bigger than the apartment for sure, laid out well and whoops they were moving still..."that's a wall Eric ERIC SLOW DOWN!"

"No, it's a hidden pantry!" The Ubbi palmed the corner and the wall swung open as a door, "fun huh? But it gets better, so I think whoever designed this duplex had ideas about secret lovers or something..." he grinned.

The pantry was like a deep closet and...apparently if you pulled on the spice rack it opened into another door with stairs down. "You're shitting me," she snorted, peering downward. Nice, carpeted stairs no less. No thunking noises as they went down, Eric still attached to her hand like an eager toddler. "It's...a basement."

"It's a carpeted, sound proofed, connected basement," Eric corrected, dropping her hand and spinning around happily. "So much room down here, see, right about here is where the wall SHOULD be if it was only a basement from the one unit!"

she looked up about the horned head and blinked, "well then. I'm thinking contractors were marketing to, ah, mixed families."

"So this is suppose to be a vamp bedroom?" Eric laughed. "I guess that could work too if you really wanted but hey, the other stairs, up we go!" Into the connected, also for sale unit next to the one they'd been looking at.

She chuckled, shaking her head in amusement, "how'd you find this place?"

"Had a realtor for lunch!" Eric grinned.

Of course he had, why had she even bothered asking? "Uh huh, and you wanted to show me because...?" GET TO THE POINT HORNED MAN!

He grinned, "well, you can only have gear that doesn't need heavy installs right? You and Nat rent. And I'm tired of renting too. Been looking for a place..."

She blinked, thinking that over, "why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I wanted to surprise you and Nat? It's been a rough year for you, you needed something...nice?" Crap he hadn't thought she might take it poorly. She was hard to read sometimes!

"Need something nice?" she asked neutrally, more than happy to pull his leg. "So this wasn't an investment opportunity?"

He winced, "Hey no I was going to go halfsies with you guys to buy both units! Rather know my neighbors are cool and share a nice basement where yes maybe a vamp stays over sometimes..." She arched an eyebrow and he was surprised to notice that her pupils were slightly slitted now. Her changes were accumulating and no wonder she hadn't stumbled on the way down the stairs before he turned on the lights? It was weird but also interesting to step back and realize how MUCH had changed.

"Hmmm, halfsies," she mused, looking around the new kitchen they found themselves in. "I prefer to be an owner as opposed to living on a friend's goodwill." JUST SAYING.

"Yeah I know, sorry I didn't say that up front! Wasn't going to just hand you keys I swear," he crossed his heart dramatically.

"Dork," she snorted. "Honestly it'd be nice not to hear the lady above us fight with ANOTHER date and cry at three in the afternoon. And teh people below us have kids."

"I know," he sighed. "Apartments are terrible. So many on hand snacks, so little peace despite that..."

She snorted and ruffled Eric's hair, "we'll see what Nat thinks? And then we'll all talk?"

"Is it cheating to say playroom as the first pro when bringing him here?"

"...yes. Dork."
