Please?
Who: Khem, Jason
When: A few months after returning from WW married.
What:...cravings.
It was one of those nights. A night where she woke up after a nap (she only napped at night these days, as she preferred when Jason could be home to cuddle) and actually poked the cellphone. She only ever set it on speaker, she didn't like holding it to her ear and yawned, "can you bring home a mouse and a hamster?" THESE THINGS SHOULD BE OBTAINABLE RIGHT?
She wanted them.
No...wanted.
NOW.
Within a day at least, yes.
"Gimme," she yawned into the phone and hung up to 'nap' again. She was...irrationally tired since the third month yes. Likely, as as a healer, she knew it was due to her malnutrition and still too thin frame. Her body delivering nutrients to the critical issue instead of bothering with day to day life but STILL.
Still. Dear gods she wanted a mouse in her claws.
So much.
So. SO much.
A hand delivered mouse.
Hee.
No idea why she wanted a hamster yet. It wasn't a mouse. Damn and curse her brain in this event!
Hopefully Jason loved her?

And a hamster.
Jason rubbed at his face tiredly and looked at his phone.
11:00pm.
Was any place still open this late? He could probably find a mouse somewhere even if the stores were closed, right? Mice were always a problem pest, especially in cities. But then again, mice were always a problem pest in cities; the last thing he needed was to be feeding his pregnant wife a poisoned mouse.
And where the fuck did hamsters even come from besides the store? He realized that he didn't even know.
He sighed and put his phone back in his pocket and closed up Jean Claude's office. He had to give a few notes to the guys before they left the club for the night and he was going to stop by the Circus to go over some meeting notes with Jean Claude. At least tonight wasn't all new guys: he still wasn't used to the nervous way they interacted with him when he was giving notes. One of the newer guys, Ethan, was one of the few that didn't: like a lot of the rats he was ex-military and he seemed almost amused by the attitude from the younger dancers.
"Jason, is that desk working you that hard? You look like shit." Ethan smirked at him from his dressing spot mirror.
He snorted in amusement and shook his head. "I'd get a lot more rest if I didn't have to keep coming to the gym to show y'all what you're doing wrong."
Ethan gestured to the bills on his counter. "They don't seem to mind half as much as you do."
"Tomorrow night at ten, ok? I want a chance to work with you before you go on again."
Ethan made a face. "Can't we do it tonight? I had plans tomorrow."
Jason sighed in resignation. "Yeah, fine. So long as you bust ass and pick this up quick: I need to get home."
"Everything ok, Jay?" Stephen asked worriedly, just stepping out of the shower.
"Yeah, no it's ok: Khem gets some weird cravings and I really try to get the things she wants when she has an appetite, you know? She's still so thin."
There was some nodding and snickering from around the room. "What's she want this time?"
"A mouse and a hamster."
The snickering grew to laughs. "No wonder shifters don't usually get pregnant."
Jason shot him a look. "You laugh, I'm the one who needs to somehow find a mouse and a hamster after hours."
"I've got mice."
Jason turned, a look of disbelief on his face as he stared at Ethan. "You. Have mice."
"Yeah. They're feeder mice, but I keep the live ones. For my snake."
More eyes turned to stare at Ethan and he chuckled. "What? I've always liked snakes. And the irony of a rat having a pet snake."
That was how Jason ended up walking up to their apartment at dawn with a small cardboard box containing two small feeder mice and an apology that he couldn't get a hamster.
He'd get a nap in before trying the pet stores if she really wanted that hamster...

MEH.
Home meant she could go hug him though yes! "Welcome home."

He smiled, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her softly. "Good morning, beautiful. I told you you don't have to wait up for me."

Even grumpy Khemrys was adorable and he couldn't help but smile. He held up the box to her. "So, I hope you won't be too mad: the shops weren't open and I couldn't get my hands on a hamster. Yet. I can try this afternoon if you want. But...I got these for you. Nice, fresh, and clean."

Ohhhh, wait, look, box! Box that scrabbled in panic when she poked it! "I don't know why I want a hamster but, mmmm, mouse....gonna catch a mouse..." Resting her nose on the edge of the carton and threatening them? Oh yes.
Wait. She wanted fur and claws for that.

He couldn't help but laugh at her excitement over the box. "Courtesy of Ethan. He said you can have dibs on the live mice over his pet snake anytime you want." His smile faded somewhat. "Wait, you want them right now? In the apartment?"
Well, she was a skilled hunter...and he doubted they could get too far in the apartment that it would be a problem...
"One at a time, though, ok? I only have the two until the pet stores open."
no subject
"...no wait, no minute from now." So she could get her claws out! "It won't escaaaape!" She could promise that! It would try, but sure, one at a time. Hmmph. Time to shift and crouch on the edge of the couch, watching him expectantly.

He stared at her for a long moment, admiring her. "Gorgeous," he murmured. He set the box on the counter and pulled one of the mice out. "Ow! Don't bite me, you little shit, I'm not the one who's going to eat you." He held it up for Khemrys to see and then let it loose on the floor, leaning back against the counter to watch.

Poor thing.
Tasty though by the time she gave it a decent ending and rolled on her back to lick her claws happily!

Jason chuckled, watching her like a proud parent. ....shit, which he was going to be...
"You hungry enough for the second one now? Or do you want to save it?"
no subject
Hopefully that translated well?

There was a scurrying in the box as it wobbled, and Jason tipped it on its side with his foot.

IT MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE HALLLWAY HAHAHAHHA! Sadly it made the bad choice of darting into the bathroom with slick tile and limited hiding spaces! And that was how she ended up tackling the poor thing and ending up curled in the bathtub as she savored the mouse in her mouth!

"Maybe someday we get a real place. With, like, a yard and trees. You can go out and catch squirrels or birds." Proper hunting, whenever she wanted.

Or even before: between the lycanthrope community and Jean Claude and his people, they were already starting to accumulate 'little things for the babies'.
With a proper baby shower their apartment could probably feature on an episode of Hoarders.

But a wood would be nice...
"And this apartment mights be kept for Requiem, and such as visit from my world?" she offered, considering. "Mayhap if any in our employee had emergency need..."

He pulled her close, resting his cheek contentedly against her hair. "Whatever you want, Khem; we'll make it work."

"If that...does not worry you? Wouldst you wish I am home with our children rather than bringing them here?" She hadn't thought to ask!
