Growing up is confusing

Who: Lani, Eric, Beryl
When: A few weeks after establishing game nights at Eric's.
What: CONFUSION.

Lani stretched on the couch, tying desperately not to stare at Eric's ass as the man got the pizza at the door. It was distracting tonight, he knew it was Eric because Beryl kept talking to him normally, but this was honestly the first time Eric had ever looked like a damn super model chick to Lani. To be fair, Playboy and ictoria Secret types weren't usually the type to get a second glance from him but damn.

Just daaaaamn.

He just couldn't take it finally and threw a pillow at the man, "why are you a girl tonight?!"

Beryl blinked, looking at her cousin, then laughed, "he's not? He's just Eric."

"Huh," Eric mused, sauntering back to the couch, and damned if the man's PJ pants didn't do interesting things on an hourglass figure, "better to ask YOU why I am?" he admitted.

"What?" He wasn't...entirely sure how Eric worked honestly, he just thought the man was a sex crazed shape shifter given the attention at the club and the fact he never looked the same two days in a row but...

Beryl leaned on Eric's legs as the man sat, taking one of her happily loaded pizzas as her just due, and passed a controller up, "Eric is always Eric Lani."

"You shitting me? He's always different! Like, sometimes every time I look he's different? Shapeshifty!"

"Nope," Eric grinned, starting the level and...posing slightly just to tease the boy. "Ubii aren't shifters. We leave that you skin walkers, weres, and athe other shifter types," he chuckled.

"Bullshit!"

"Nope, we work on the mind and heart," he admitted, sniping some idiot kid from Florida on screen. "We embody what people desire. You see what you want or need."

What.

The.

Fuck.

"SO WHY ARE YOU A GIRL?!" He was smart, he was the smartest kid in their damn family, on the fast track to graduate early with full scholarships before the infection, so this shouldn't be so hard to grasp. But he...he liked Nat and Jason. He was kind of dating at least Nat maybe?

In that way they were, um, having a lot of fun and the guy was educating him? That made him GAY.

Right?

Brazilian model skin shouldn't seem so...lickable. "That doesn't make any sense!"

Eric shrugged, "not to tease, Lani, but you're a teen. Teens don't know what they want, hormone wise, from minute to minute, even if they are dating or have a set idea of themselves. Hormones are hormones. Makes your age bracket kind of easy pickings for Ubii."

"To be fair, you're steadier than most teens," Beryl assured him, passing a pizza slice. "But..."

"Buuuuut you're still young and easily turned on," Eric summed up. "My suggestion is that you don't overthink it."

Don't overthink it, like it was somehow that easy. Sure, Beryl had teased him when he decided he was into the guys after the nerdy, fumbling admissions to liking a girl way back in middle school. His entire life was just a pile of shifting sand, all his future plans and certainty gone. He was finally, finally getting some balance back and then this?! "Then why don't you look like Nat?!"

Eric sighed and Beryl reached up to pat his knee, "I got this. Lani...you have a crush. Crushes can become real love, sure, but he doesn't define your every desire moment to moment okay? Hormones are a bitch." Utterly.

"...what do you see?" he gritted, feeling called out for not loving the guy he kinda dated somehow.

"Eric."

"There are very small numbers of people who see us," Eric admitted quietly. "For a variety of reasons."

Oh. Shit. He looked at Beryl, wincing, "sorry." He knew what the family said about her after all.

Eric blinked, clicking back out of the game to sit in the waiting room, "did I miss something?"

Beryl snorted, "nope. You know our family sucked."

"You going to tell me?" Eric drawled. "Please?"

Lani glanced between them then shook his head, "no. They sucked. Even if you're distracting as hell right now, well...." nope.

"Give you a blowjob," Eric tempted.

Beryl laughed and turned around to swat the man, "cheater!"

Don't mind Lani turning dark shades of red, "nope nope nope..." nope...nope? Oh gods. Someone save him. "GIMME A CONTROLLER!" Something else to do! Please!

Eric snickered and passed his, "okay bi-boy."

Oh, right, BI WAS A THING. LOOK SOMETHING TO FOCUS ON HAHAHAHAHAHA DIE MULTIPLAYER SOLDIER GUYS! "I hate everything right now."

"That's normal for kids," Eric grinned. "I promise."

"Fuck."
