Oh shit
Who: Beryl, Eric, Lani, Khemrys, Jason, Nat, Requiem
When: About four months into working at the club.
What: Well, sometimes shit just goes sideways due to crazy people.
It was just a normal night these days. Things always picked up during summer it seemed; more kids home from college, more parries among the wealthy sorts where they wanted to be 'daring' or people realized they wanted to spice things up by going to see something 'magical'. Their club was the cheap side of magic really, so affordable and sinful at the same time, go figure. 'Affordable' for the rich side of town still meat some crazy ass tips for a lot of the employees and this was when a lot of them picked up new sugar mommas and daddies. Hell, the dance slots had to be shuffled often she was learning as groups were engaged for parties and such.
Lani had actually had a three day weekend out on a damn yacht playing entertainment and eye candy alongside Jason and Nathaniel in fact. She hadn't asked for details given he'd promised to bail or call her if shit went sideways. And it wasn't exactly like these kind of events could have a random bartender tag along. To say she'd spent two of those three nights at Eric's trying not to fret alone was an understatement. Upside being she and Eric were now ahead in kill trophies against the missing boys in online games yes.
Unlike a lot of the fishing dancers these days though Lani didn't need a place to live and a new wardrobe, but he had picked up few tips for increasing tips regardless, such as the 'kissing booth'; a good tip got some damn nice kissing action (and tended to bring out more tips among the crowd). Boy was certainly making rent tonight, easy...
...it was just coincidence she looked up honestly. She tried not to stare at the dancers after all, just scan the room casually since she wasn't paying for the show after all but, well, the woman stood out. They got older women all the time really, unhappy housewives, cheerfully lecherous grannies, you name it, they saw it and most were just out for a bit of fun and a lot of drinking. Not her, this woman ordered herself pure vodka shots, rings winking on her fingers as she took the glasses and plowed toward her cousin's table like a small ship wrapped in Gucci. At least the woman had taste?
Every time she glanced back the woman was just watching hungrily and she didn't think much of it until she caught the woman digging through her purse and tipping a vial back in her mouth. Shit. They didn't allow drugs on the premise, not when their license could be yanked easily for something like that, and she was already hopping the counter, waving at the bouncer when the woman tucked a hundred in Lani's G-string and tipped her last shot back when Lani bent to kiss him.
WAS SHE TRYING TO FUCKING DOSE HER COUSIN?! When Beryl tackled the woman clear the bitch started screaming "THAT'S WHAT DOGS GET FOR TURNING HER DOWN IN PUBLIC!" She had to straddle the damn bitch to keep her down while customers scatter and Lani...
...Lani made a strangled sound, blood beginning to leak from his lips as he fell backward off the table he'd been dancing on. Naturally all hell broke loose, the heavy hitters having to cam and shoo the ground out while the police were called and "SILVER!" Jason helped when he tried to help Lani sit up, the blood leakage burning his skin, "SHE GOT SILVER IN HIM!"
"Flakes from a vial in her purse and forcing vodka in the kiss!" Beryl guessed back, trying not to panic.
"This'll suck," their bouncer warned before punching her cousin firmly in the gut to make him wretch. It worked to a degree but the boy's throat was too bloody and swollen for it to help much. "WATER!"
Beryl snarled, yanking one of the other dancers over to sit on the woman for the police and made a mad dash for the bar for that, but even rinsing and draining wasn't helping...
"...GET HIM TO MY CAR NOW!" Eric snapped.
What? Beryl yanked her head around to stare at her friend then nodded at the other two weres trying to help, "move it boys!"
Jason and Nat, both pale and terrified, hauled Lani up and got him outside, all tumbling into Eric's backseat as Beryl threw herself into the front, "where are we going?"
"I know one person who can help weres with silver," Eric growled, "we can get there in time."
"Someone can do that?" one of the boys in the back yelped while wrapped around Lani to prevent too much rolling around in agony.
"One." Beryl slapped a seatbelt on and nodded, eyes wide, "get us there. I"ll pay fines just GO."
"I make more than you," Eric snorted, flooring it as they peeled out of the parking lot. "We're going into enemy territory though. Vampires, I'm barred from hunting there, so are you without permission, not that we will be just for future reference and shit." An odd strain of vampire held the college city near them, they had ubii level needs to feed on sex and attraction, as well as the ability to feed on blood. He rather thought they had resulted from a damn ubii vamp crossbreed honestly but hey, that didn't matter in light of the fact that they protected other types of creatures.
Among them an anomaly, a shifter, but a healer.
The shop they pulled up in front of seemed like a new age folly really; teas and soaps, lotions...and a vampire behind the counter as they staggered in with a still bleeding and feverishly moaning Lani. "Requiem," Eric nodded, "we need to see your sister."
Requiem blinked mildly then pointed, "the back room here, the large table," that said he ran up the back stair, followed down again by a woman in a light shift and too pale skin, dark braid banging nearly at her ankles as she ran to get hands on the young man.
"How long ago?"
"Hour drive," Beryl noted grimly. "Bitch forced silver down his throat mixed with vodka."
Khemrys nodded distractedly, fingers flying, "a bowl." ANYONE CLOSE WOULD DO AS A RUNNER YES. Some work along the boy's sternum and he was turning to retch again, as much blood as bile in it but there was a dark thread of dusty metal swirling in the bowl that barely made it in time.
"How did you...?"
Requiem shook his head, "she is a healer. Bodies obey at need," but there was a cost, evidenced by the fact he moved forward to support the young woman's shoulders.
Given how Lani was twitching and thrashing Beryl couldn't help stepping forward to take her cousin's hand, "hey cuz, it's okay, don't fight this okay?" He managed to peel an eye open to look at her, whining softly. "I know, but you don't fight doctors or medicine so you damn well don't fight a healer okay?" Lani closed his eye again at that but went limp something she'd have the shakes about later but she took it as trust for now considering she could feel his pulse while the healer woman worked.
"Thank you," Khemrys murmured softly. "He was scared."
Beryl looked at her then sighed, "we're all scared...miss...?"
"Khemrys if it pleases," the girl smiled. "He will need rest and a great deal of protein for the next week but there will be no lingering harm."
"I...I have no idea how to thank you..." Beryl choked.
Khemrys swayed slightly, leaning back against Requiem, but smiled regardless, "it is a pleasure to heal others, Lady. Fear not for such, you came unto us with no ill intent and with care for the injured."
"By that she means we don't charge," Requiem chuckled softly. "And that she will now sit and drink a cup of tea at least. You may all join her if you wish."
Tea.
Right.
While Lani...rested.
It was nearing dawn when they packed back into the car to get Lani home to his own bed...all of them tired and oddly sober, and yet...
..."she was hot."
"Thank you Jason," Eric snorted.
